Everything from food, drinks, tours, and wildlife are all at your disposal. When planning your getaway, you’ll want to think about a few details, such as when to go, accommodation, dining, and activities. There’s no time like the present to head to New Orleans because this city truly is a year-round hotspot. Perhaps, you and your partner want to experience one of the many festivals held throughout the year (Mardi Gras!). Or maybe you’re just looking for a relaxing trip away. The time to start planning is now! Here is a quick guide to help you plan a romantic getaway in New Orleans.
New Orleans offers lots of different accommodations, from luxury hotels, hostels, and everything in between. If you’re searching for luxury, look no further than the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel located in the famous French Quarter. The elegant décor found in each room is sure to set the right mood. The city also offers an array of boutique B&Bs, many of which are historical buildings. One of my favorite options is the Lafitte Guest House, located in the residential section of the French Quarter. Request a room with a balcony and enjoy a lovely view of the neighborhood. You can’t have a romantic getaway without making a reservation at one of New Orleans’ fabulous restaurants. There are lots of options depending on food preference. Expect to find lots of Cajun, French, and seafood options. For some mouth-watering ribs, make a reservation for the Rib Room located in the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. If you prefer a more casual dining experience, check out Jacques-Imo’s Café for some amazing jambalaya. Learn more about the traditional NOLA dishes every visitor should try.
As I said, there is so much to do in New Orleans! Take a tour through the historic raised graveyards. Learn about the Louisiana Voodoo religion. Take an exciting airboat ride through the Bayou and see some exotic wildlife (gators!). Check out one of the many museums to learn about local history. Wander around the different neighborhoods of New Orleans and experience the different sights, sounds, and tastes. The possibilities are endless.
